15th May 2008 : U12s Win SFAI Cup
U12 SFAI Norton Cup Final 14th May Cherry Orchard 1 St Kevins 0
Congratulations to the players and managers of the 12 Premier team, who captured the Norton Cup at sunny Whitehall last night. Orchard skipper Dan O'Reilly scored the only goal when he headed Lee Smith's 14th minute corner from the left to the net. Although the Orchard had good chances to extend their lead in the second half, it took an outstanding display from goalkeeper Shane Fagan to enable them to add the national cup to the Tony Ryan Cup they won on Saturday last.
14th May 2008 : 11 Premier Lose SFAI Final On Penalties
SFAI Menton Seery Cup Final 13th May Cherry Orchard 5 ( 3 pens ) Crumlin Utd 5 ( 4 pens )
Hard luck to the players and managers of the 11 Premier team, who lost out when a wonderful cup final on an excellent pitch at Whitehall last night was settled by a penalty shoot-out. Ryan Highes and Ryan Masterson gave the Orchard a two goal advantage after 15 minutes, but Glen Fulham and Lee Hammond had Crumlin level by half time. Lee Hammond then put his side ahead before Ryan Masterson took the game to extra-time with a late equaliser. Lee Hammond completed his hat-trick two minutes into extra-time and Glen Fulham made the score 5-3 to Crumlin , before Calvin Bay reduced the arrears before the break. Ryan Masterson then completed his hat-trick four minutes from the end to take the game to penalties. Ryan Hoghes, Sean Tinkler and Karl Byrne were all successful from the spot for the Orchard, but Crumlin converted four of their kicks to take the cup.
The club is very proud of the performance of our boys in last night's game.

6th May 2008 : Paul Magee R.I.P.
It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of our former player Paul Magee at the age of 51. Paul, son of the legendary broadcaster Jimmy, was a member of the outstanding Cherry Orchard underage team of the early to mid 1970s and, like his father, remained a good friend of the Orchard long after leaving us to join Shamrock Rovers in 1975. We offer our sincere condolences to Paul's wife, children, father, brother, sisters and family. May he rest in peace.
